چکیده

With the aim of utilizing wood as a carbon cycle-oriented material, improvement hydrophobicity has been actively studied to solve manufacturing problems, such dimensional stability and biodeterioration resistance. The introduction benzyl group is promising chemical modification for hydrophobizing wood. However, conventional benzylation methods are not suitable industrial applications because they require high temperature long reaction times. In this study, novel method was developed quickly benzylating surface block-shaped using an aqueous solution tetra-n-butylphosphonium hydroxide pretreatment solvent no heat. color shape benzylated almost unchanged from that before treatment. Analysis resulting structure suggested causes less damage carbohydrates compared with method, which involves heating stirring. proposed successfully imparted thermoplasticity surface. Furthermore, further improved by simple heat treatment only approximately 5 min. water contact angle became ≥110° remained even after 1 min dropping.

Chemical improvement of surfaces . Part 2 : Permanent hydrophobization of wood by covalently bonded fl uoroorganyl substituents

A recently developed esterifi cation method in our laboratory was applied to permanent hydrophobization of wood surfaces. Specifi cally, the covalent attachment of fl uoroorganyl substituents to wood hydroxy groups via benzotriazolyl-activated, substituted benzoic acids was in focus. Weight percent gain values from 10 % to 28 % were obtained on Scots pine ( Pinus sylvestris ) sapwood veneer chi...

Hydrophobization of glass surface by adsorption of poly(dimethylsiloxane).

Silica or glass particles are introduced in a poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) matrix for various applications. A particular feature of these systems is that PDMS adsorbs on the surface of the dispersed particles, thus rendering them more hydrophobic with time. The mechanism of this process of in situ hydrophobization is still poorly understood. The major aims of the present study are (1) to quant...

of Wood Surface Energy to Surface Composition

The wood cell wall is composed of cellulose, lignin, hemicelluloses, and extractives. Thus, the surface energy of the wood material must be some combination of the surface energies of these components. The influence of extractives on wood surface chemistry can be important in diverse industrial applications, such as coating, pulping, and wood-based composites. In this study, pine wood meal was ...

Reverce Engeneering of Wood-block Printing

Ukiyo-e is a multi-woodblock color print and an important historical and cultural heritage from the Edo period in Japan. An Ukiyo-e print is produced with three processes: drawing by an E-shi, a painter or a designer; woodblocks engraving by a Hori-shi, an engraving technician; and printing by a Suri-shi, a printing technician. The produced prints from the same woodblocks are not exactly the sa...

A Case of Left Bundle Branch Block-shaped wide QRS Complex Tachycardia with diagnostic Ambiguity on a Surface Electrocardiogram

In cases of tachycardia with a broad QRS complex, it is important to differentiate between supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and ventricular tachycardia (VT). Electrocardiogram (ECG)-based differential diagnoses include VT vs. SVT with aberrant conduction, pre-existing bundle branch block (BBB), intraventricular conduction disturbances, and pre-excitation. Several criteria have been described ...
